2025 Arctic Open Results

The 39th annual Arctic Open took place at Camas Prairie Golf Park under cold and rainy skies on February 15th & 16th. Seven 2-person teams (one team coming from Gig Harbor) braved the inclement weather to compete in the 36-hole tournament. Like mail carriers, neither rain, snow or sleet could keep them from completing their appointed rounds. The top three teams in the gross score division were 1st place: Hazli Katsikapes and Ronnie Harrell, 2nd place: Austin and Keagen Khile, and 3rd place: Dylan Stanfield and Terry Khile. The winners in the net score division were 1st place: John Loftus and Chad Miller, 2nd place Rita Beebe and Tim Caldwell and 3rd place: Brian and Doug Lux. Prizes for closest to the pin went to Jody Etheridge, John Loftus and Chad Miler.

Special thanks to the Friends of the Camas Prairie Golf Park and the Caldwell Family Association for sponsoring one the golf course's longest running tournaments.

One Club Challenge

OneClub-9848.jpg

Forty-four golfers participated in a 9-hole two-person best ball tournament sponsored by the Friends of the Camas Prairie Golf Park and Propolis and held at Port Townsend’s Camas Prairie Golf Park Saturday, January 25th. To make things simple as well as challenging for the first tournament of the year, each golfer was allowed to use only one club throughout the round. Simple because club selection was no longer an issue and challenging because putters were seldom chosen as the one club to use.

After a one hour frost delay golfers teed off at 11:15am completing the nine hole round in two hours. There was a 3-way tie for first: Three teams shot best ball scores of 41. A tie breaking formula was used to determine the winners. First place went to the team of Shelley French and Dylan Stanfield. Second place to Mike and Doug Lux, and third place went to Maisie Walker and Robert Horner.

Individual prizes were also awarded to Noa Montoya (long drive), Alex Fisher (closest to the pin), and Gabe Montoya (long putt).

Special thanks to pro shop volunteers Kim Rafferty and Molly Gordon for morning coffee and pastries, Rita Beebe for pre-tournament coordinating,  and Rick Unrue for post-tournament lunches.
